Upbit wins 3 ISO information security certifications

Korea’s largest crypto exchange boasts top-class system

Korea’s largest crypto exchange Upbit said Tuesday that it had obtained three ISO (International Organization for Standardization) information security certifications: information security (ISO 27001), cloud security (ISO 27017) and cloud privacy (ISO 27018). With these certifications, Upbit is equipped with major security standards at home and abroad along with the ISMS (information security management system) certification it won last month.

ISO 27001, set up by the ISO and the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), is an information security standard, suggesting 114 controls in 14 clauses including information security policies, physical and environmental security, access control and business continuity management. The certification is awarded only after businesses pass strict screenings.

ISO 27017 and ISO 27018 certifications are information security standards related to ISO 27001-based cloud services. They require organizations to have risk control systems on monitoring, operation management procedures and customer information specific to cloud services. Upbit has become Korea’s first crypto exchange to secure ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and ISO 27018 as well as ISMS.

“UPbit’s information security capabilities have been recognized at home and abroad with the latest acquisition of the three ISO certifications and the ISMS standard,” said Lee Suk-woo, CEO of Dunamu operating the crypto exchange. “We will do our utmost to provide the safe trading environment and protect customer information on the basis of our world’s top-class information security system.” /edshin@decenter.kr
