Samsung Electronics has unveiled the first decentralized application (DApp) and cryptocurrency wallet the Galaxy S10 will support.

The electronics giant made public a list of blockchain projects cooperating with its flagship smartphone in various ways at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona Monday. The announcement was made in the Samsung Mobile Business Summit session conducted in the form of private invitations.

The Galaxy S10 has selected Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) among the major cryptocurrencies, Enjin as a wallet and Cosmochain as a DApp, according to the announcement.

Enjin, a blockchain project intended to develop Ethereum-based games and items, has come up with the “Enjin Wallet” used to send and receive Ethereum-based ERC-20 tokens and ERC-1155 crypto game assets. Cosmochain is a blockchain-powered DApp that would enable users to obtain COSM tokens through Cosmee, a blockchain-based beauty social media platform. The Galaxy S10 will install the “Enjin Wallet” as an engine project and “Cosmee” as a DApp. Still, it’s unclear whether these projects will be installed as basic applications.

According to the announcement, the Samsung Blockchain KeyStore of the Galaxy S10 will support the Soft POS payment function as well as storage for cryptocurrency private keys. Soft POS, a POS application for Android mobile devices, is a contactless payment method using applications downloaded in NFC-enabled handsets.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics introduced its new flagship Galaxy S10 at the 2019 Unpacked event held in San Francisco Wednesday. At the time, the company unveiled the Galaxy S10’s Blockchain KeyStore that could support storage for crypto assets but didn’t announce details about what cryptocurrencies and DApps it would support. /wonjaeyeon@decenter.kr
