Kakao’s 9 Klaytn BApps to begin offering services

Cosmochain becomes first to swap tokens and begin Klaytn-based service

Ground X CEO Han Jae-sun speaks at the “launch event for the Klaytn mainnet” held in southern Seoul Tuesday.

Nine of Kakao’s public blockchain platform Klaytn’s 51 BApp (Blockchain Application) partners will begin services.

In the “launch event for the Klaytn mainnet” held in southern Seoul Tuesday, Ground X, Kakao’s blockchain technology subsidiary, said nine partners would release services based on its blockchain mainnet “Cypress.” They are Cosmochain, Piction Network, HINT Chain, Pibble, SPIN Protocol, Insureum, Cloudbric, Airbloc and Antube.

Consmochain swapped its Ethereum-based tokens with Klaytn-based tokens for the first time among BApp partners Friday. Cosmochain also updated its “Fitsme” beauty service released in late May as Klaytn-based.

Piction Network will release its “Piction Market” service Friday. Users can take part in the creative content market like webtoons and webfictions in person and share rewards with creators. In Tuesday’s event, Piction Network CEO Bae Seung-ik put on a demonstration of its entire service processes -- from the creator’s uploading of content to inquiry into sales and sharing of rewards with sponsors.

Pibble, a social media service enabling users to upload photos and writings in return for cryptocurrency, is to be released on July 16. Pibble CEO Lee Bo-ram also demonstrated her company’s service that offers token compensation for users’ activities like uploading images and seeing advertisements.

In August, HINT Chain will launch its “Haemuk Namnyeo” service offering token compensation to consumers who write restaurant review. HINT Chain plans to swap its Ethereum-based HINT tokens with Klaytn-based tokens by the end of this month. HINT Chain CEO Chung Ji-woon said in the event, “We are test-operating our ‘HINT membership service’ in two stores to provide tokens for users writing review. We plan to release one more Klaytn-based decentralized application (DApp) in the second half of this year.”

Other Klaytn-based services include SPIN Protocol allowing product suppliers to share profits with influencers; Insureum letting users claim compensation according to occurrences of such specific events as fine dust, snow and rain; Cloudbric, a blockchain-powered security platform on collecting and sharing security data; Airbloc, a decentralized platform for data transactions; and Antube that would offer token compensation to users uploading videos. At the same time, cryptocurrencies based on Ethereum and other platforms will be swapped for Klaytn-based.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Ground X CEO Han Jae-sun said, “BApp partners’ feedbacks contributed a great deal to the appearance of Klaytn. Today’s event is dedicated to introducing Klaytn-based services rather than Klaytn.” /hyun@decenter.kr
